CHINA HEALING RETREAT EXPERIENCE - MAY 2007

Last Thursday, our party of five returned to Dayton after attending a three-week Healing Retreat at Master Yuantong Liu's retreat center in Meishan, China.  I think all of us found it to be a truly life-altering event in our lives.  We will carry this experience in our hearts and minds forever.

For me, the retreat was far beyond my expectations, and I have been to several Qigong retreats with various teachers in the past.  What made this retreat very special was that it was the first time a group of Zhineng Qigong teachers were able to offer the same three-week experience to Westerners that over 350,000 people in China had experienced at the Center.  In fact, the teachers said the Qi Field at our retreat was as strong as the Qi Field at the Center.

I have never experienced the Qi Field as deeply and fully before.  Through the intensive practice sessions, my mind and body expanded to a new level.  Through the lectures on the Zhineng theories, as developed by Dr. Pang, I gained a much better understanding and appreciation of the Zhineng Qigong practice - how and why it works, and where one can potentially go with it.

It was as challenging as it was fulfilling, and I think all of us were stretched far beyond our beliefs of limitations.  We found we could go much further than we had any idea of!

The master teachers, Liu Laoshi, Meng Laoshi, and Yang Laoshi, all have studied directly with Dr. Pang and two of them had taught many years at Dr. Pang's Hua Xia Healing Center before it closed.  All have advanced to a very high level of practice.  You can see it in their eyes, their smiles, their calmness, their gentleness and compassion.  It is their hearts' desire to help others and to open the Zhineng system to people in the West.

And it was deeply healing.  Upon my return, I have continued to feel the Qi working very deep in my body, opening up spaces and releasing the old “unneeded” stuff of the past, making room for the new.  At night I sometimes find myself doing Qigong in my sleep, have vivid dreams, strong vibrational sensations in the body, and I can feel the masters continuing to send Qi to me through the Qi Field.

We have great hopes of bringing these masters to the US in the next few years so that more people can benefit from this highly advanced system of human development through the Qi Field.  Until then, Liu Laoshi will continue to host welcome Westerners interested in coming to China.

Practice Tip of the Month:  “Why We Practice Zhineng Qigong”

(Compiled from notes taken at the October 2006 and May 2007 China Retreats with Master Yuantong Liu.  According to Master Liu, "the Theory is the Practice, and the Practice is the Theory."  To practice well and receive the full benefit, we must understand the theory well.  And to understand the theory, we must practice well.  With that in mind, I will be sharing more of this material with you in classes and in future newsletters.)

Many of us are drawn to Zhineng Qigong because we want to recover from an illness, improve a physical condition, or reduce the stress in our lives.  But how does Zhineng Qigong help us achieve those outcomes, or anything else we want to create for ourselves?

According to the Zhineng theories,  when we practice Level 1 methods (Lift Qi Up, Pour Qi Down, 3 Centers Merge, and La Qi), we practice Qigong to “open Nature's Door”.  Through these practices, we exchange our life qi energy with the qi of nature, thus aligning ourselves with the laws of the Nature or the Universe.

All things in the Universe are subject to the natural laws - all life, planets, solar systems, etc.  When our life energy is in alignment with those laws, we can remain healthy, happy, and in balance and harmony.  But for many humans, our energy bodies have become disconnected from Nature.

The Natural rhythm of the Universe is “open and close” and “release and absorb”.  When we are healthy, our energy bodies are open, spacious and light.  The life energy qi flows very well, and any impurities, or the “stuff” we can't use any more, can be easily “cleansed away” making room for fresh new qi we need for health and our life's progress.  An overload on the system of toxins, strong emotions, stress, or negative thought patterns can cause these impurities to build up and the qi becomes heavy and more condensed.  Then the life energy qi doesn't flow as well, and blockages appear.  It becomes harder to absorb the new life-enhancing qi.  Over time, those blockages can lead to physical illnesses.

When we practice Zhineng Qigong with our mind's focus and an open heart, we can expand our Qi bodies, opening up the space within ourselves to the vast space of the Universe and the Primal Qi that is needed for cleansing, restoring, building, and creating.  In other words, we are manifesting our life reality in accordance with the Laws of Nature.  When we are tuned into the Natural way, our hearts are open and connected to others, our mind focus is strong, and our energy is constantly flowing, changing, absorbing, releasing and in resonance with the rhythms or “breath” of the Universe.

Practicing Zhineng Qigong becomes much more than simply healing our bodies and our lives.  When we understand the power of the Qi and the Laws of Nature, we realize that we can achieve higher states of being and consciousness than we ever dreamed of.  Nothing stays the same - we are in a constant state of change and growth, the Qi spiraling upward as Primal Qi unites with our intention and life energies to integrate and create something new.  That is how all life evolves and progresses.

 Love and Qi,

 Jan

September 1 – 30, 2007 Teacher Certification Training
The retreat was held in Meishan, China (2 hour flight from Chengdu).

The first 2 weeks of the retreat will also be excellent for those who can only come for 2 weeks and who want to go deeper in their practice, but that are not yet seeking teacher certification.  This 2 week retreat will also be a good retreat for those who attended the September-October retreat in China in 2006.  There will be detailed explanations of Zhineng Qigong theories and characteristics, as well as detailed movements and postures of Lift Qi Up, Pour Qi Down, Three Centers Merge, and Level 2 Body and Mind Method. This will include how to use the mind’s consciousness for practice. There will be new material for those who were here in 2006 and would like another in-depth retreat.

The teachers will be Master Feng and Master Liu. This will be a rare opportunity to obtain teacher certification in China by high-level teachers from the Zhineng Qigong Centers, who are qualified to certify teachers. I know that the level of their instruction will far exceed your expectations, and you will learn the techniques used by the centers in China. Learning to teach with the techniques and practices developed by Grandmaster Pang, as they are taught in China will be an invaluable experience.

Master Feng was the second teacher next to Grandmaster Pang in the Zhineng Qigong School at Shijiazhuang. Also he helped Grandmaster Pang open first Zhineng Qigong school in Shijiazhuang too. He is a very high level teacher who has taught in many countries since the closing of the centers in China. It will be a rare opportunity to learn from him and Master Liu.

Yi Yuan Ti theories will be discussed, as well as the characteristics of Zhineng Qigong that make it different from other forms of qigong.

The course will focus on the following 3 points:

1. How to teach beginners as they taught at the Hua Xia Zhineng Qigong Center.
What teachers need to understand in order to fully and correctly answer student questions.

2. How teachers can progress with the forms in their own practice. How we can let our life energy  and the laws of nature correctly integrate with primal Hun Yuan Qi so that our minds will be more open and at peace. How can we learn to practice so that we are always connecting our minds to new life, all the time, day by day.
How can we know how to teach our students to integrate natural law and the Yi Yuen Ti , allowing human life to follow the laws of nature.

This section will also be good for each student’s own progress.

3. All teachers need hard practice during this retreat from the beginning to the end of the
retreat, it will be important of really feel the body and to use our qi in order to progress.

We will be doing some practices for extended times in order to accomplish this goal:
Lift Qi Up, Pour Qi Down - 2 hours
Three Centers Merge – 2 hours
Body and Mind Method – 2 hours

4. All teachers need to practice how to control the Qi field, and how to use the Qi field for practice.

How we use external Qi for healing.

In order to obtain a Zhineng Qigong Teacher’s Certificate, each teacher will need to have a physical body test of the forms, a speaking test of the forms, and to be able to demonstrate them together.

All teachers must also be able to do the following:
Organize the Qi field
Know the words for organization of the Qi field for Level 1 LQUPQD, and Level 2 B&M
Know the titles of each section of the forms and what is included in each section. (Liu has
created a much more accurate translation of the section headings for B&M method. These must be learned, as they more correctly convey Grandmaster Pang’s purposes. Please email Liu or Eva  (evahelleblad@hotmail.com) if you need a copy of this to study).
Be able to explain Yi Yuan Ti and Hun Yuan Qi theories
Be able to practice the Yi Yuan Ti way
Be able to demonstrate wall squats

Those who participated in the September 2006 retreat will China will be permitted to study and test in Levels 1 & 2.  Those who did not attend the last retreat will only be tested for Level 1 (unless an exception is granted in individual situations).  Even if you cannot receive certification in Level 2 on this retreat, earning a teacher’s certification authorized in China by Zhineng teachers will be a very important certification in the U.S.

It will be necessary for those who would like to attend the teachers training in 2007 (and did not attend the retreat in 2006), to submit a resume of  your Zhineng Qigong experiences, and other healing practices. A video of your teaching might be required, with each case evaluated independently.

Please email Master Liu  LZJ4444@yahoo.com.cn
and Deborah Lissom  WillowPond@bluegrass.net to reserve a place in the retreat.
From the U.S., you can call Deborah at 800-364-9460 for more information.
Or you can contact Master Liu in China at 011-86-13056601535.

This 4 week retreat will be very intense and will focus on teacher training techniques practiced at the Hua Xia Center in China.

The retreat will include 2 nights and 3 days at the Daoist Mountain where the group went in September 2006. The qi field at the mountain is very conductive to deep practice, and this will give the group more time to practice there and to experience the 1,000 year old qi field.
